In early November 2023, the IDEO Last Mile Money team in collaboration with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation hosted a workshop in Kampala, Uganda with the intent to have a deep-dive working session with a small group of global leaders, experts and thinkers to articulate a preferred future for Cash-in and Cash-out (CICO) networks that can inform what the financial ecosystem should do next. It was a Futuring Workshop on the The Future of Cash.

THE AIM

What is Futuring you ask?

Futuring is the practice of envisioning and planning for potential futures, often through a systematic process that includes analysis, exploration, and forecasting. It is a critical tool in innovation management. By leveraging data-driven insights about what could happen in the future, futuring helps organizations anticipate change and shape their strategies accordingly.

As an Interaction Designer I was a part of the core design team responsible to define the visual identity and experience design for the workshop. I worked closely with the Senior Design Lead and the Design Director in a three week sprint to design and deliver the end-to-end experience for the futuring workshop in closely alignment with IDEO's futuring strategy.
